SAND DRYERS/HEATERS

Here at CWMF we have designed and built custom dryers and heaters for multiple industry uses such as, dryers for sand plants, glass plants, rendering plants, and golf courses to name a few. From the 18” diameter golf course sand dryer to the 168” rendering plant dryer we will size what is right for you.

Heaters and dryers are sized based on a production rate at a specific moisture content. The production rate is figured in tons per hour (TPH). Knowing the moisture content of the product at the point of entry is critical information when sizing a drum for any application. We offer everything from a stand-alone dryer to complete turnkey systems. We will work with you to help make the right decision for your application.

Here is a comparison of current sand heater technology vs. hot water application:

Sand Heater

  • Provides more consistent heat at the correct temperature
  • The temperature exceeds the boiler temp making it easier to meet concrete specifications
  • Increases the temperature of the material up to 90º F; For example: 32º F material + 90º F = 122º F
  • Longer retention of heat in the truck without the concern of pre-setting the mix. This is due to the thermo mass of the heated sand
  • Provides a more consistent blend, eliminating lumps, enhancing add mixes
  • Improves flow through plant, from screen to truck
  • Improved capacity
  • Low maintenance

Boiler Application

  • Lower temperature capability
  • Temperature is inconsistent
  • There are lumps in the sand
  • Lime scale buildup requiring costly chemicals to clean the boiler. These chemicals tend to react adversely with the mix
  • Limited capacity when ambient temperature drops

Customer Testimonial

"When the manufacturing process changed at Pittsburgh Corning Corporation and rotary drum dryers were required to dry glass cullet, we searched for a manuracturer who was established in the drying business, small enough to be flexible in meeting our special needs, reasonable in cost, yet experienced and knowledgeable about drying various products.  Custom Welding fit these criteria.  They invited us to visit their plant to show us their products and capabilities.  The CWMF staff was quick to recommend the size and capacity needed for our project including specialized materials recommended for our abrasive product.  Their quote was quite reasonable and delivery time fit well within our time frame.  During installation, their staff was always available and quite helpful.  Today, we continue to do business with them on spare parts and from time to time, ask them for phone assistance to resolve maintenance issues.  We are very satisfied with their products.  We believe working with companies like CWMF allows us to integrate both theirs and our engineering technologies to develop the best specialzed equipment."
